'Thanks to the sun, we enjoyed terrific output in 2009,' exclaims Mirjana
Blume, CEO of Edisun Power Europe AG: 'more than 36% above production in
the previous year!' What is more, just as the year under review was drawing
to a close, the solar power producer connected its 50th solar power
installation to the electricity grid.
The accumulated output of all of the Edisun Power Group's facilities in
Switzerland, Germany, Spain and France in 2009 was 5.5 gigawatt hours, or
almost 5% more than expected. The increase in output of 36.4% over the
previous year was down to the construction of additional facilities. In
addition to clement weather conditions, the solar power producer's
meticulous selection of materials and partners also did its part for the
boom in output.
50th solar power facility in Switzerland
The Edisun Power Group's 50th solar power facility in Switzerland was
installed on the roofs of the University of Zurich's Irchel campus and
connected to the power grid just as 2009 was drawing to a close. With
capacity of 55 kilowatts, the facility feeds some 52,250 kilowatt hours of
solar electricity into the ewz grid every year.
Hardly had the new year dawned, meanwhile, when yet another facility, the
Edisun Power Group's 51st in Switzerland, began to produce
environment-friendly power atop an agricultural building in Zurich. With
capacity of 74 kilowatts, the facility will produce some 70,000 kilowatt
hours of clean electricity annually.
